Product overview
Flat stock, also called flat strap, flat strip or flat strapping, is flat galvanized steel in the width you need, from 18 mil (25 ga) to 97 mil (12 ga). It comes in flat lengths of 10′, up to 12′, or in coils. Common uses include horizontal strap bracing across studs, strap bridging of joists, tension X-bracing in shear walls, and backing, gusset plates, splices and closures. Strap width, thickness and fastening for bracing and shear walls are set by the structural designer. Data sheet DS-24 includes approximate weights by width and thickness, and typical bracing and bridging details.
