Product overview

Shaftwall J-Track

Shaftwall J-track is the runner that holds CH studs and shaftliner panels at the floor, the ceiling and the edges of openings in a shaft wall. Its unequal legs, a long leg of 2-1/4″ for runners or 3″ for jamb struts, ends and corners, plus a 1″ short leg, let the liner panels slide into place from the room side. The track width matches the CH stud depth, 2-1/2″, 4″ or 6″, in 18 and 33 mil, in 10′ lengths. The track is anchored to the structure and sealed as the tested shaft wall assembly requires. Data sheet DS-09 explains how the track works with the CH stud and shows head, base, jamb and corner details.

As floor and ceiling runners in every shaftwall, as jamb struts at door and duct openings, at wall ends, corners and abutments, and as runners for corridor ceilings and stair soffits built with CH studs where the listing allows.

The 2-1/4″ leg is the standard choice for floor and ceiling runners on straight runs. The 3″ leg is used for jamb struts at doors and ducts, wall ends, abutments and corners, where it gives an extra leg to screw to and a stiffer edge.

The track width matches the CH stud depth: 2-1/2″, 4″ or 6″. Order by part number, length and quantity, for example 400J225-33 for a 4″ J-track with a 2-1/4″ long leg in 20 gauge.

Optional fold-up tabs in the long leg hold the liner without screws. Where tabs are not used, the liner is screwed to the track.
