Product overview
Metal lath is a galvanized diamond mesh, expanded metal lath that gives plaster and stucco a mechanical key. It comes in two weights: 1.75 lb/yd² sheets, 27″ × 96″, for interior plaster, and 2.5 lb/yd² sheets, 27″ × 97″, for stucco and heavier plaster, both with G60 coating to ASTM A653 and in bundles of 10 sheets. Lath is fastened to studs or furring with the long dimension across the supports, lapped at sides and ends and wire-tied between supports, as ASTM C847 and the plaster specification require. Data sheet DS-22 shows the sheet layout, laps, fastening and tying details.

2.5 lb/yd² is the usual choice for exterior stucco, adhered stone veneer and walls with studs at 16″ o.c. 1.75 lb/yd² is a lighter lath for interior plaster, tile mortar beds, small areas and repairs, on closer support spacing; check that the project specification allows it.
Fasten it to studs or furring with the long way of the diamond across the supports, lap it at sides and ends, and wire-tie it between supports, as ASTM C1063 and the plaster specification require.
Portland cement plaster (stucco), interior plaster, adhered stone veneer and tile mortar beds.
A bundle of 10 sheets covers about 20 yd²: about 35 lb for 1.75 lb lath and about 51 lb for 2.5 lb lath.
